Epidemic Intelligence from Open Sources (EIOS) Strategy 2024—2026
Overview
The EIOS Strategy 2024–2026 outlines the World Health Organization’s (WHO) coordinated approach to strengthening public health intelligence (PHI) through the EIOS initiative. Developed by the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence in Berlin, the strategy builds on the EIOS initiative’s global expansion and aims to enhance early detection and response to health threats. It introduces three strategic objectives: transforming the EIOS system for improved functionality, maximizing engagement and sustainability of the global Community of Practice, and connecting EIOS with broader public health initiatives. Supporting these goals are enabling objectives focused on decentralizing operations, securing long-term funding, and strengthening governance. The strategy sets a vision for 2026 and 2030, emphasizing integration of EIOS into PHI practices and empowering communities to generate actionable insights.
